Everyone kinda knew that Andy Lau has a woman behind him all these while, infact she was well hidden despite rumours that he had already married her and she was an Ipoh girl. I have heard this rumours for years. He never admitted it and continued his own pursuit in stardom. Personally, I think he overdid it but then again who am I to judge, maybe he was just doing it for his fans!! Eg like how Jackie Chan kept his marriage (Lin Fung Chiao) and son a secret for many many years in fear of how his fans would react if he told them he was married. Anyway. kudos to his girlfriend who has been kept in the dark for 23 years? Would you do that??

IPOH: After 23 years of keeping their romance under wraps, Hong Kong heartthrob Andy Lau Tak Wah and his Malaysian girlfriend Carol Chu will walk down the aisle next year.
The couple, who got to know each other in 1985, have chosen Pulau Redang in Terengganu, as the site for their lavish wedding ceremony to avoid paparazzi.
Hong Kong magazine “Three Weekly” reported that the 47-year-old Lau got the idea of getting married on the resort island from his buddy Tony Leung Chiu Wai, who recently tied the knot with China beauty Carina Lau Kar Ling.
The magazine reported that Andy had been vehemently denying his relationship with Chu for fear that his fans would not support him but Chu’s appearance at Lau’s concert early this year had fuelled the rumour mill.
During a concert last month, Andy set tongues wagging when he asked his fans if idols could have girlfriends and get married.
Fans greeted his question with happiness and responded that he should openly show his love for Chu.
Andy was said to have used that statement as a test of his fans’ reaction towards his marriage plans.
Chu’s romance with Andy is believed to have started not long after she was named second runner-up in a beauty contest in 1985.
In May this year, Andy was spotted at the wedding ceremony of Chu’s sister in Kuala Lumpur.
When contacted by press over the news, Andy’s former Taiwanese girlfriend Yu Ke Xin said:
“I am very happy for him. It is time he settles down.”
“I am very happy for him. It is time he settles down.”

that is the sacrifices one will likely need to make when one is going out with a celebrity.
however, keeping in the dark for so long is such a difficult task to do, but do you know that Andy truly loves his ...soon to be wife? *something I have found out from a friend who 'work along side' with him *
So i guess, in the end of the day it is happy ending, then it will be worth the while :D

To be a girlfriend of a celebrity is not easy. They kept it a secret may be one of the reason they could end up married. He didnt admit he had a girlfriend so there is no issue of '3rd party' in the news!!! Smart, that is what I think.
When someone in love, he/she would like to share the relationship with the world. 23 years of secret relationship sounds terrible for me.
Anyway, the girl maybe the luckiest woman in the world who has Andy Lau as her husband.
