Heath Ledger - nominated for the Golden Globe - would he win?

Good for him! Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker the Batman blockbuster, The Dark Knight has earned the late actor a Golden Globe nomination,

Indeed, it is great honor and personally I think well deserved.

Commenting on the honor of being nominated for best performance by an actor in a supporting role, Heath's Perth, Australia-based father, Kim Ledger, said in a statement to PEOPLE, "We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath's performance in The Dark Knight. This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud our boy's work is being recognized in this way."

Will he win? Who is he up against?

Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. for their roles in Tropic Thunder,

Ralph Fiennes for The Duchess and

Philip Seymour Hoffman for his role in Doubt.

Strong contenders.....let's see if a dead guy will win!

I hope he wins. Let see if a dead guy can win, you say? Sound rather harsh, if I may so... though I know you don't mean it disrespectfully. Anyway, thanks for sharing this news as I'm pretty much outdated in Hollywood entertainment these days. I watched the Dark Knight because of Heath. Sigh..
